What IRLToolkit does and does not cover
IRLToolkit is a well-regarded cloud OBS hosting service for IRL streamers. It gives you a remote OBS instance with drop protection, overlays and multistreaming, and it does that job well. The thing to understand before you buy is what sits outside that scope:
- It is a server, not a pipeline. You still need a separate app to capture and encode video.
- Bonding is not included. You need hardware such as a dedicated encoder, or your own SRTLA setup.
- $129 per month is the entry plan. That covers the server alone, not the encoding side.
- The cost is fixed. You pay the same whether you stream forty hours that month or none.
None of that makes IRLToolkit a bad product. It means the sticker price is one line in a larger bill, and it is worth adding up the whole thing before comparing. Our self-hosted server guide covers the other end of that trade-off.

Common questions
Is there a cheaper alternative to IRLToolkit?
Yes. IRL Bonded offers cloud servers, drop protection and multistreaming starting at $15 per month. Unlike IRLToolkit it also includes the streaming app and multi-device bonding, so you do not need separate hardware.
What is the difference between IRLToolkit and IRL Bonded?
IRLToolkit is a cloud OBS server that requires separate hardware or apps to send video to it. IRL Bonded is a complete stack: streaming app, multi-device bonding, encoding, cloud servers and multistreaming in one.
Does IRL Bonded have drop protection like IRLToolkit?
Yes. When your connection drops, IRL Bonded shows a holding screen to viewers and reconnects automatically, so the stream stays live on the platform.
Can I use custom OBS scenes with IRL Bonded?
IRL Bonded handles the streaming pipeline automatically. If you need full OBS customisation you can use IRL Bonded as a bonded source into your own OBS setup, or use the self-hosted option on your own hardware.
